Blockasset appoints ex-evoke figure as chief marketing and people officer
Michael Sheehan’s appointment at Web3 firm comes just under two months after fellow former evoke head Alexis Zamboglou was unveiled as CEO

Former evoke UK marketing director Michael Sheehan has announced he has been hired as Blockasset’s new chief marketing and people officer.
Sheehan, who confirmed last month he would be leaving the William Hill and 888 parent company after three years, will occupy a C-suite position for the first time with the recently formed outfit, spearheaded by another ex-evoke figure in Alexis Zamboglou, Blockasset CEO and co-founder.
The company, which has a betting arm in BlockBet, is built on the Solana blockchain, promoting fan engagement in exchange for rewards and VIP experiences. Users are able to collect tokens via free-to-play prediction games, such as BlockPicks.
Founded in 2021, Blockasset boasts several high-profile partnerships with multiple athletes and sporting organisations, including an official partnership with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which allows Blockasset to produce exclusive content and promote customer exclusive opportunities.
Taking to LinkedIn, Sheeham said: “At Blockasset, we’re redefining how athletes and fans connect through Web3 innovation. We’re pioneering a platform where sports passion meets digital ownership.
“At Blockbet, we’re building the next generation of GambleFi with a cutting-edge casino and sportsbook platform. With entertainment, innovation, and community at our core, we aim to set the standard in the world of Web3 crypto betting and gaming.
“In this dual role, I’ll be focusing on building world-class brand marketing strategies while fostering exceptional teams and cultures. It’s an exciting opportunity to blend my passion for growth, leadership, people and digital innovation.”
Blockasset’s LinkedIn page noted that Sheehan’s arrival marks another milestone for the firm’s leadership outfit, adding: “We are building the strongest leadership team in Web3 betting and gaming, with Mike another example of Blockasset bringing a wealth of experience into our growing business – welcome Mike!”
Sheehan brings a wealth of experience to the role, having occupied various prominent positions within the gaming sector, including most recently director of marketing for all evoke UK brands, where he was based out of the firm’s Gibraltar offices between August 2023 and November 2024.
Prior to that, Sheehan served as director of strategic marketing at 888 Holdings’ (now evoke) William Hill and 888 brands between February 2023 and October 2023, tasked with overseeing several departments, including media, sponsorships, organic social media and creative.
It was a role he secured after being promoted from within, following a six-month stint as vice-president of marketing for the 888 brand, which followed a 10-month spell as William Hill’s director of marketing strategy and planning from February 2022 to November 2022.
Outside of evoke, Sheehan spent just shy of five years with Entain, arriving in August 2017 as head of partnerships for Ladbrokes and Coral, rising up the ranks to occupy the post of Entain’s head of strategy, planning and business development from August 2019 to February 2022.
Sheehan’s longest period at one company was first stint with William Hill, which lasted more than six years, over half of which was spent as head of social media.
