Karolina Pelc-led firm planning North American expansion as industry veterans pledge support to B2B startup

BeyondPlay has a secured €5m in an oversubscribed funding round as the B2B startup gears up for further market expansion with a core focus on North America.
The round was led by Bettor Capital, an early-stage venture capital fund based in the US, and attracted a host of industry veterans and fellow VC firms.
Tigrim Capital and Winforton Investments also pledged support, along with Feda Mecan, former Sportingbet executive director Mark Blandford and Alea founder Alexandre Tomic.
Mecan has previously invested in the likes of KaFe Rocks and Huddle.
Additionally, BeyondPlay has also added Bettor Capital CEO David VanEgmond to the group’s board of directors.
BeyondPlay, which aims to create multiplayer entertainment experiences for casino games like slots, confirmed the capital injection would be used to support the company’s growth ahead of multiple planned operator launches over the next 24 months.
Karolina Pelc, BeyondPlay CEO, said the oversubscribed round was a “major milestone” for the startup and championed the “reputable” investors who had pledged their support
Pelc said: “Exceeding our funding target is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the BeyondPlay team. Innovation requires a willingness to take risks, so I am very happy to see that our increasing momentum towards product and client launches is recognised and trusted by both new and existing investors alike.
“A combination of Bettor Capital’s leading strategic expertise and the mindsets and experience of some of the industry’s most successful serial entrepreneurs will take our growth to the next level,” she added.
David VanEgmond, Bettor Capital CEO, commented: “We are thrilled to back BeyondPlay’s team of experienced industry professionals, including a founder and leader in the online casino space like Karolina, as the company takes its next steps in its journey to launch.”
In February, LeoVegas divested its 25% stake in BeyondPlay to Bettor Capital for €1.9m.
Beyond Play, which has applied for licences in markets including the UK, Malta and Ontario, is in the process of signing deals with host of operators.
