BetVictor lauds impact of million pound promotion
Firm says Sunday's Euro 2016 final was its best football customer acquisition day in history

BetVictor’s The Million Pound Goal promotion provided the firm with its best football-related customer acquisition day in its history, the operator revealed today.
The promotion, which asked customers to predict the time of the winning goal and goal scorer in the Euro 2016 final last Sunday, was a hit with customers, according to BetVictor, and saw one punter scoop the ?1m jackpot.
“Sunday’s final marked the biggest day in our history in terms of new customers, bar the Grand National,” Matt Scarrott, BetVictor sportsbook director, said.
“We are thrilled with the campaign and how it has been received by customers old and new, and look forward to similar campaigns going forward,” he added.
Customers could earn a prediction for the final by placing one qualifying bet of at least ?5 and then another prediction for every five bets placed thereafter.
Although no punter correctly predicted Portugal striker Eder would net the 109th minute winner, Daman Chick (pictured) from Birmingham, who earned six predictions during the tournament, was judged to have entered the closest prediction.
“I went out of my way to make sure I earned as many predictions as I could with the money I could afford to play with,” Chick said.
BetVictor said Eder was far from the most popular player to score The Million Pound Goal, with Golden Boot winner Antoine Greizmann leading the way with 37% of predictions.
Next followed Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo with 18% of customer predictions and France striker Olivier Giroud with 16%.
In a poll conducted last month, EGR readers deemed the BetVictor promotion to be the most effective Euro 2016 campaign in the market.
