BetVictor comms veteran launches tipster affiliate site
Charlie McCann makes winning start to Cheltenham Festival with newly launched venture

Former BetVictor head of communications Charlie McCann has launched a new tipster affiliate website under his own name.
The new site – CharlieMcCann.co.uk – went live on 2 March and provides punting tips as well as links to bookies including William Hill, Unibet, bet365 and Boyle Sports.
McCann – who has worked in the gambling industry since 2004 for operators including 32Red and Stan James – worked for BetVictor for eight years between 2011 and 2019.
He made a winning start to Cheltenham Festival, tipping three winners in Shishkin, The Conditional and Imperial Aura for Day 1.
McCann had to leave his post at BetVictor last year due to ill health following complications with multiple knee and hip replacements.
“I have always been first and foremost a punter and have written a successful daily horseracing preview for the last decade for a number of media outlets,” McCann told EGR Intel.
“I am well aware that it is unlikely to be a success in financial terms, but I need to occupy my time and gardening is not an option in Gibraltar, although it wouldn’t be an option for me anywhere.
“I hope my experience and expertise can prove helpful to the recreational punter and, while there are no guarantees, the hope is that we might be able to make a profit.
“I will stress the need in all correspondence of the need to GambleAware, by setting realistic deposit limits, not chasing losses and by gambling responsibly. I know I do,” he added.
McCann was racing correspondent for UK commercial radio station talkSPORT until 2007.
