BetUK makes horseracing push with MBL promotion
Sportsbook manager Chris Rogers says BetUK aims to become a serious player in the domestic horse racing market

BetUK has become the latest sports betting operator to launch a £500 minimum bet guarantee (MBL) on UK and Irish horseracing.
The move by the LeoVegas sportsbook brand will allow punters to bet to win up to £500 on all races from Thursday.
BetUK follows the lead of BetVictor, William Hill, Sky Bet and Betfair by offering a MBL, with sportsbook manager Chris Rogers saying the promotion will help BetUK become a genuine competitor in the UK.
“We are keen to establish ourselves as a serious player in the domestic horseracing market,” said Rogers.
“We feel this commitment demonstrates that, and should give both new and existing customers confidence that BetUK is driven to provide the greatest sports betting experience,” he added.
Firms including BetVictor have been criticised in the past for offering different odds on their MBL promotion – although its offer extends to each way bets unlike others – but Rogers pledged the BetUK pricing will be consistent across all markets.
The pledge was welcomed by Horseracing Bettors Forum (HBF) chairman Matt Bisogno, who said: “HBF welcomes the news that another operator has recognised the need to make a commitment to the British horseracing betting public, and congratulates BetUK on their minimum bet provision.
“For too long, bettors who would certainly not class themselves as professional but who invest time in solving the puzzle and, in so doing become advocates for the sport, have seen their enjoyment and engagement withered by restrictions that often make no sense even on a commercial level.
“It is to be hoped that as 2019 progresses such an offering becomes the norm rather than the exception,” he added.
Gambling Commission CEO Neil McArthur has previously said that introducing minimum bet legislation is not a priority for the regulator.
