Betsson expands tech operations with new Budapest office
Operator seeking up to 60 local engineers to further develop its proprietary Techsson platform
Betsson is opening a new development centre in Budapest which will house a team of engineers to develop the operator’s Techsson platform.
The centre is expected to open its doors in July as Betsson looks to address the operator’s evolving technology demands.
“The main focus will be on the back-end and the development of the Techsson platform,” project manager Joakim Eriksson told EGR Intel. “We also want to have a presence for multiple departments, so it will be a varied office from a tech perspective.
“Going forward we want to see the front-end development and whole tech stack move into this office,” Eriksson added.

As many as 60 local engineers will be recruited initially, with plans to further expand the development centre and double the number of staff.
“We’re looking for any kind of developer interested in high load, transaction-intensive systems and scalability,” Eriksson said.
Betsson’s tech operations are currently split between hubs in Malta, Stockholm, Kiev and Tallinn.
Dividing the system across numerous locations, Eriksson said, would allow for the entire organisation to be part of development projects.
“Having it spread out is a great opportunity for collaboration that you wouldn’t have otherwise,” he said.
Betsson said it was the biggest egaming operator to set up a hub in Budapest, where tech giants Microsoft, Ericsson and IBM also operate from.
