BetMGM to launch in “monumental” New York
Top-three sportsbook receives approval from New York State Gaming Commission

BetMGM has confirmed the launch of its online sportsbook in New York on January 17 following receipt of approval to operate from the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC).
The MGM/Entain subsidiary was one of five sports betting operators that did not receive its license in time for the Empire State’s inaugural sports betting launch weekend on January 8.
It is understood this approval has been granted, with the firm satisfying the NYSGC’s “statutory and regulatory” requirements to begin, however, no confirmation has been made by the governing body.
BetMGM joins Caesars, FanDuel, DraftKings, and Rush Street Interactive’s BetRivers brand which have already launched in the Empire State, enjoying a strong opening weekend buoyed by New York bettors.
At present Bally Bet, PointsBet, Resorts World, and WynnBET are still awaiting their own respective approvals from the NYSGC.
“With today’s monumental news, we’ll now be able to fully activate our relationships with MGM Resorts’ Empire City Casino and Madison Square Garden,” BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt said.
“We look forward to offering customers in New York unique experiences that they can’t access on any other platform.
“A huge thank you to the New York Gaming Commission as well as to our entire BetMGM team who have worked tirelessly to bring this to fruition,” he added.
BetMGM has an extensive footprint in the Empire State, having concluded deals to become the official sports betting partner of the New York Knicks and Rangers teams as well as the Madison Square Garden Arena.
These assets can now be utilized in the promotion of the new sportsbook.
Elsewhere, BetMGM has revealed details of the first phase of a 17,000 square feet Arizona retail sportsbook, located at the Arizona Cardinals’ State Farm Stadium.
Construction is underway on the two-story sports and entertainment destination that will operate on both event and non-event days.
The BetMGM Sportsbook, located on the north side of The Great Lawn, will feature a state-of-the-art sportsbook and a sports bar.
The site features dual entrances from both sides of The Great Lawn, a 265 square feet video wall to watch games, enhanced gameday parking options, as well as both indoor and outdoor dining options.
Sports fans will be able to place wagers at trading windows or utilize more than 25 user-friendly betting kiosks placed throughout the space.
Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill welcomed the interest in the new sportsbook from Cardinals fans.
“Since the launch of our partnership with BetMGM last August, the response has been incredible.
“When this sportsbook opens next season, it will provide an opportunity to engage and entertain our fans in a way that is unprecedented,” he added.
