BetMGM eyes NHL gains with new TV spot
Legends Wayne Gretzky and Connor McDavid participate in new tongue-in-cheek advertising drive

BetMGM has debuted a new TV spot featuring NHL legend Wayne Gretzky and Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid.
The content, which aired in advance of next week’s start of the NHL season, is a tongue-in-cheek spot featuring Gretzky as he interrupts Connor McDavid during a practice session, with the former previewing the new BetMGM app throughout the spot.
The campaign was created by 72andSunny New York and directed by Peter Berg, executive producer of US TV shows Entourage and Ballers.

It will appear across broadcast, outdoor marketing, digital and social channels throughout the NHL season and forms part of BetMGM’s “IT’S ON” campaign which began in advance of the NFL season debut in September.
McDavid signed with BetMGM in March as one of the first active professional athletes from the four major professional sports leagues to become an ambassador for the brand, joining Gretzky who signed in June 2021.
The “IT’S ON” campaign features BetMGM brand ambassadors including Jamie Foxx, Barry Sanders, Kevin Garnett, Vanessa Hudgens and Jalen Rose, among others.
BetMGM VP of brand Raymond Doyle welcomed the launch of the new campaign, citing the presence of the two NHL players as a value-add to the brand this season.
“It’s incredible to showcase two of the greatest hockey players on-screen interacting with one another,” Doyle explained.
“We look forward to entertaining hockey fans during commercial breaks as two of the game’s legends blend sports and entertainment and demonstrate the endless possibilities with BetMGM,” he added.
