BetGames appoints former Barclays head as chief technology officer
Giedrius Vegele joins supplier from financial tech platform provider Metasite as he takes his first role in the igaming sector

BetGames has appointed industry newcomer and former Barclays data expert Giedrius Vegele as its new chief technology officer (CTO).
Joining the supplier from financial technology product provider Metasite, where he also served as CTO, Vegele replaces Steve Wall who was hired back in April 2022.
Vegele joined Metasite from Rocket Software in October 2021 where he spent time as a senior engineering manager.
The new BetGames exec also spent a year with Lithuanian telecoms firm Telia between August 2019 and August 2020 as head of enterprise reporting.
Prior to these roles, Vegele previously spent nine years with finance giant Barclays across two different spells.
First joining in October 2009 as an infrastructure technician, the IT expert held several roles including head of virtualisation engineering and head of computer engineering before leaving in October 2016.
After a brief stint with Telia as head of IT architecture until November 2017, he rejoined Barclays as data partner for two years before leaving once again for Telia.
In the BetGames CTO role, Vegele will be tasked with overseeing the supplier’s “ambitious” product roadmap plans for the remainder of 2025.
Andreas Koeberl, BetGames CEO, said: “We are delighted to welcome Giedrius to the BetGames team.
“He has a proven track record building and implementing best-in-class product solutions and is the perfect person to drive our product expansion from a technical perspective.”
Vegele added: “I am very excited to join BetGames. They are among the most forward-thinking providers in the industry, and I am looking forward to helping them amplify their presence through optimised product development.”
