Betfred seals British Masters sponsorship extension
Bookmaker to continue as title sponsor through to 2022 for Newcastle-based tournament

Betfred has secured a two-year extension to its title sponsorship of the British Masters golf tournament.
The Warrington-based bookmaker has sponsored the British Masters since 2019 after the firm’s first step into golf sponsorship.
Betfred and the European Tour decided to extend their partnership following the success of this year’s edition held at Close House, which would ordinarily have brought an end to the pair’s original agreement.
Under the remit of the deal, Betfred also donated £50,000 to the tournament’s official charity – the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation – as part of the European Tour’s #GolfforGood campaign.
Betfred founder Fred Done said: “I am delighted to announce an extension to Betfred’s commitment to the British Masters. Despite the obvious challenges of staging this year’s tournament, both the European Tour and Close House have done a tremendous job.”
Keith Pelley, European Tour CEO, said: “Betfred have been a terrific partner over the past two years and they have been incredibly supportive over the past few months during the various challenges brought about by the pandemic.
“We are therefore delighted they have agreed to extend their sponsorship of the British Masters for an additional two years, which speaks volumes about their commitment to this tournament and our Tour,” he added.
