Betfred primed for Spanish online launch
UK heritage bookmaker to launch online sportsbook and casino in Spain from new Ceuta office

UK bookmaker Betfred has been granted a licence to operate online sportsbook and casino in the Spanish gambling market.
Spanish supplier Optima will provide the player account management and sports betting software, while Betfred’s Spanish business will operate from a new office space in Ceuta.
Betfred COO Mark Stebbings said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Betfred and the Spanish licence is part of our ongoing expansion strategy.
“There is clearly a real passion for sport, and especially for football in Spain, and we share that passion here at Betfred.
“We believe we bring the necessary expertise but also the heritage and trust to this expanding market,” he added.
As part of its international expansion strategy, Betfred unveiled a new betting platform for the US market in April 2019.
PlayOJO platform provider SkillOnNet was also granted a licence today by Spanish regulator Dirección General de Ordenación del Juego (DGOJ).
Michael Golembo from SkillOnNet said: “This is a milestone moment for SkillOnNet and is the next big step in our continued expansion into regulated casino markets across Europe.
“We saw how impressively the market had grown over the past 12 months and decided to prioritise obtaining a licence from the DGOJ and launching in the country.
“We also see Spain as a gateway to Spanish-speaking Latin American markets in the future.
“The licence means that we can now make our own casino brands available to Spanish players, as well as those of our current and future white-label partners.
“We plan to be a leading player in the Spanish casino market as we have done in all markets we have entered before.”
Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) and Casumo joined the list of new Spanish licensees last week.
