Betfred pots World Snooker Championship sponsorship extension
Operator seals title rights through to 2022, marking eight consecutive years associated with the annual 17-day event

Betfred has put pen to paper on a one-year extension to its title sponsorship of the World Snooker Championship.
The new deal will see the operator sponsor the annual tournament in late April through to 2022, having signed a two-year extension in 2019.
The agreement was announced during the conclusion of this year’s edition staged in August due to coronavirus, as Ronnie O’Sullivan defeated Kyren Wilson 18-8 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield to win his sixth world title.
Betfred first sponsored the event back in 2009, before returning to the fore in 2015 and has held the title rights ever since.
Betfred has also donated £25,000 to the Jessie May Children’s Hospice at Home after pledging to give £200 for every century break during this year’s tournament.
Barry Hearn, World Snooker Tour (WST) chair, said: “We have worked with Betfred on the World Championship for many years and we are delighted to extend the agreement.
“Over that time, it has developed into a truly global event with a vast audience, and its reach continues to grow,” he added.
Fred Done, Betfred founder, said: “I’m delighted to extend my association with the World Snooker Championship and I would like to take this opportunity to thank WST, the Crucible, BBC, Eurosport and especially the players for putting this event on in such challenging times.”
