Betfred acquires MoPlay’s UK-facing player database
Warrington-based bookmaker gains access to 45,000 active MoPlay users as EagleBet wins German database

Betfred has won the bid for MoPlay’s UK and Ireland player base after parent company Addison Global went into liquidation.
MoPlay’s database went up for sale during a competitive auction last week, where firms including BetVictor, Star Sports and Virgin Bet are understood to have shown an interest.
Betfred holding company Petfre (Gibraltar) Limited will now gain access to around 45,000 of MoPlay’s former active users, EGR Intel understands.
MoPlay emailed former customers this morning, informing them that cash balances would be honoured by Betfred while open bets have been voided with stakes returned as cash balance.
“Those customers who are resident in the UK and Ireland will be given the opportunity to have their cash balances honoured by Betfred,” said the note.
“We apologise that it has taken so long to achieve this result for you, but it was important to ensure that the operator who we came to an agreement with was highly reputable and met strict data protection and privacy standards.
“Betfred will be in contact via the email address you provided to MoPlay within the next 72 hours with further details on how to set up an account with them and access your cash balance.”
MoPlay users have since been sent a second email suggesting the original email was sent in error. “As you may be aware, Addison Global/MoPlay has gone into liquidation and have been working with a number of partners to deliver the best result for our customers,” read the new note.
“We hope to have good news on that very shortly and ask if you could kindly disregard the email sent earlier.”
EGR Intel understands MoPlay’s Germany and Austria player base – thought to be around 10,000 active users – has been bought by online sports betting operator EagleBet.
Betfred owner Fred Done last week acquired a 3% stake in “massively undervalued” rival UK operator William Hill.
