Rich Hayward steps up from UK&I commercial director role to lead business after more than a decade of service

Betfair has named company stalwart Rich Hayward as the operator’s new managing director.
Hayward steps up to lead the betting exchange after more than four years as the brand’s UK and Ireland commercial director.
Hayward originally joined Betfair in 2008 as a graduate before embarking on a decade-long journey with the firm.
A series of promotions across commercial and marketing divisions saw Hayward named head of international operational performance in July 2014.
A shift to head of premium customers in June 2015 followed before another job change in July 2016 to become head of exchange services, premium and pricing.
Hayward’s final role in his first stint with Betfair was as exchange business and pricing director between January 2018 and February 2019.
The exec was then selected to be integration director tasked with helping facilitate the embedding of Georgian operator Adjarabet into parent company Flutter.
He returned to Betfair in August 2019 to take on the UK and Ireland commercial director role.
Posting on LinkedIn, Hayward said: “The Betfair dream continues. The excitement and enjoyment is as big now as it was for me on day one back in 2008.
“The culture and the team are such a privilege to be part of and every day continues to be a thrilling education. With that, I am thrilled to announce that I have been appointed managing director at Betfair for Flutter UK & Ireland.
“I’m excited to get going and looking forward to the opportunity,” he added.
