Betfair launches £3k Open Championship minimum bet guarantee
Betfair sportsbook extends recent racing guarantee to golf as Paddy Power pledges to pay 10 places

Betfair is extending its minimum bet guarantee initiative to golf for this week’s Open Championship.
From 10am until midnight on Wednesday, the operator will to lay to lose at least £3,000 on Open golf bets (win and win part of each way) to all UK and Ireland customers.
The guarantee will also run from 10am on Sunday morning ahead of the final round.
Betfair introduced a £500 minimum bet guarantee to all Class 1 and 2 horseraces across the UK & Ireland in June and this promotion marks an extension of the initiative.
Betfair MD Kevin Harrington said: “We’ve been really pleased with the response to our minimum bet guarantee on racing, so we’re delighted to be rolling it out to golf in time for the iconic Open Championship.
“The Open is always a fiercely competitive betting event and this year looks no different.
“Betfair combines market-leading value, competitive minimum bet guarantees and the world’s largest and most liquid betting exchange, so there’s no reason for punters to look elsewhere.”
Paddy Power has also launched a 2018 Open Championship promotion, offering to pay 10-places each way as part of PPB’s dual-brand strategy.

William Hill has also been offering more guarantees in recent months, offering a £1k MBL on ITV’s televised races and a £10k guarantee on 90-minute odds on every World Cup match.
More than 65% of EGR readers believe that bookies should be forced to make minimum bet commitments, although Gambling Commission CEO Neil McArthur recently insisted minimum bet rules were “not a priority” for the regulator.
