Betdigital latest to secure UK licence
Content provider receives licence ahead of October introduction of new Gambling Act and comes after signing content deal with Odobo
Betdigital has become the latest egaming supplier to receive a Remote Gambling Software Operating Licence by the UK Gambling Commission.
The UK’s new Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act, which comes into force in October, will require all suppliers with UK-facing activities to be licensed by the Gambling Commission by January 2015, and the firm’s CEO Heath Samples said the early award was part of the firm’s plans to “stay ahead of the curve”.
Betdigital’s award comes two weeks after the regulator released an initial tranche of software licences to suppliers such as Openbet, GTECH and Realistic Games, and in the same week the firm teamed-up with gaming content provider Odobo.
The Odobo deal will see Betdigital’s games portfolio made available to various operators through the Odobo Marketplace, expanding on Betdigital’s current list of business partners to include the likes of Betfair and bet365 having previously signed with William Hill, Ladbrokes and Gala Coral.
Betdigital said it signed with Odobo due to its HTML5 game development program, which enables its titles to be rolled out to desktop, mobile and tablet offerings simultaneously.
“A single integration opens up our games to multiple operators and millions of new players,” Samples said. “This marks another exciting period for both companies.”
