Betano goes live in Belgium with sports betting and online casino
Kaizen Gaming brand lands in European market after securing both licences in November 2024 from the local regulator

Betano has launched in Belgium to take the Kaizen Gaming brand into its 19th live market as its global expansion continues at pace.
Users in Belgium will be able to access the Betano site via betano.be, with the operator live with both sports betting and online casino.
As per the Belgian Gaming Commission’s database, Betano secured online sports betting and online casino licences on 12 November 2024.
The licences have been awarded to Casinos Austria International Belgium NV, which is ultimately owned by pan-European lottery giant Allwyn.
Allwyn also holds a 36.75% stake in Kaizen Gaming’s business activities outside of Greece and Cyprus, which it acquired in April 2022 for an upfront fee of €50m.
To obtain an online casino licence in Belgium, an operator must hold an existing land-based casino licence.
Casinos Austria is the licensee of the Grand Casino Brussels Viage in the Belgian capital.
Betano will join 21 other licensed sports betting operators in the market, including Unibet, bwin, Napoleon and GAMING1’s Circus brand.
There are only eight fellow licensed online casino operators Betano will face off against, including Betsson-owned BetFIRST.
The Belgian market has had a host of regulations applied recently, including raising the minimum gambling age from 18 to 21 and several marketing restrictions.
The move into Belgium comes after Betano went live in Colombia in Q4 2024. The operator is live in a host of European and Latam markets, such as Portugal, the UK and Brazil.
A Kaizen Gaming statement read: “Betano is now live in Belgium. We are officially launching in our 19th market, taking another step toward ‘2626’: our goal of being in 26 countries by 2026.“We are now fully live, delivering a tailored experience to Belgian customers. This expansion is a project full of firsts, and we’re ready to make an impact in this dynamic market.”
EGR spoke with Kaizen Gaming CEO George Daskalakis last year at the operator’s Greek HQ to explore the firm’s rapid growth across the globe.
