Bet365 trialling AI in problem gambler identification
The operator says it will share the results of new responsible gambling technology projects with the wider industry

Bet365 is currently researching how it can use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in the detection of problem gamblers using its sites.
Detailing its financial progress during the year, the company said it is committed to delivering a strategy where all customers can enjoy its range of products and services in “a safe, responsible and secure environment”.
As part of this commitment, the company has expanded its in-house Early Risk Detection System (EROS) by adding new gambling harm markers and models to the program.
In addition, bet365 has rolled out new functionality, with the aim of encouraging “positive changes in behaviour and use of gambling management tools” by its customers.
The company has confirmed it is progressing several research projects with external partners on “early risk detection and using experience from behavioural science” to develop more effective ways of helping customers bet responsibly.
Bet365 has said findings from these projects will be shared with the industry over the next year, reiterating its commitment to having a comprehensive suite of gambling management tools.
In the light of an increasing number of UKGC regulatory fines for AML related breaches, bet365 also confirmed the expansion of customer transaction monitoring controls, aiming to ensure that it “proactively” continues to combat potential abuse of its services.
The Stoke-headquartered operator hailed product improvements in sports and gaming yesterday as profits hit £682m following a 26% rise in annual revenue.
