Barstool Sportsbook heading to Arizona via expanded NASCAR deal
Penn National Gaming gains market access to Grand Canyon State through Phoenix Raceway

Penn National Gaming has expanded its strategic partnership with NASCAR through a multi-year market-access agreement for the state of Arizona.
The deal will pave the way for Barstool Sportsbook – which is operated by Penn Interactive – to go live in the Grand Canyon State once sports betting formally launches, which could be as soon as the upcoming NFL season.
Penn National has held a relationship with NASCAR since 2020, when it became the first authorized gaming operator of the racing outfit.
As part of the expanded alliance, Barstool Sportsbook will become the exclusive sportsbook of Phoenix Raceway, which is eligible for one of the 10 wagering licenses available to sports teams in Arizona.
“Barstool Sportsbook has proven itself to be a market leader in the jurisdictions where it has launched due to a combination of unique offers and a leading mobile experience,” said Penn Interactive SVP Jon Kaplowitz.
“This new partnership will allow us to engage a passionate sports fan base in Arizona while having access to a best-in-class sports entertainment facility in Phoenix Raceway,” he added.
“Phoenix Raceway is a state-of-the-art entertainment destination that prides itself on delivering a best-in-class fan experience,” added Phoenix Raceway president Julie Giese.
“Our partnership with Penn National Gaming and Barstool Sportsbook takes this to another level. It will help us continue our mission of redefining the way we engage fans and connect with new audiences.”
In addition to brand integrations in and around Phoenix Raceway, Barstool Sportsbook will also have a significant presence across NASCAR’s social and digital channels, and will be proactive in featuring NASCAR odds on its own mobile app and social assets, as well as throughout Penn National’s retail properties.
Arizona bettors can also expect a variety of special Barstool promotions and odds boosts centered around big NASCAR events as Penn looks to leverage the partnership to gain a foothold in what’s shaping up to be a competitive market.
In terms of an official launch of sports betting, the Arizona Department of Gaming is targeting September 9.
