Backers and layers battle to a draw on Week 2 of the Premier League
Man United’s shock defeat to Brighton was the saving grace for the bookies as Juventus win on Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut
Manchester United’s 3-2 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion saved the bookies from another poor weekend of Premier League punting.
Jose Mourinho’s side were shambolic in defeat and represented a great standalone result for the bookmakers, while also wiping out a huge number of accumulators before Liverpool take on Crystal Palace this evening.

Kindred Group’s Ali Gill said: “After last week’s Premier League bloodbath, this week goes down as a tie.
“The punters had a lot of the match round their own way, with the exception of Cardiff and Newcastle’s 0-0 draw, right up until the Sunday evening.
“Brighton’s impressive win against an extremely poor Man Utd side put a huge dent in the players pockets not only on the singles, but it took a swathe of accas with it too.”
It was a similar story for the trading team at BetVictor, where the firm’s Charlie McCann said: “Saturday football was a struggle with West Ham’s home defeat to Bournemouth the only saving grace in the Premier League, although we clawed a bit back later on with Monaco and Villarreal proving popular.
“There were too many goals yesterday, but we had plenty of money going onto Manchester United at Brighton and as our head of football just told me, it was a case of ‘Glory, Glory Man United’ for the layers on Sunday.”
Brighton’s gutsy win over United was also the top-matched Premier League game of the weekend on the Betdaq exchange.
According to Betdaq’s Eamon Moran, one punter landed almost £34k after putting £7,150 on the Seagulls at odds of 5.7.
Moran added: “It was a nightmare result for Jose Mourinho but a handful of goals and a tight winning margin made Brighton’s 3-2 victory over Manchester United perfect trading fodder.”
Outside of England, Cristiano Ronaldo’s debut for Juventus in Serie A turned the heads of football punters as the Old Lady beat Chievo 3-2 away from home.

Kindred’s Gill said: “Ronaldo’s first game for Juve drew a lot of extra betting interest from Kindred players but unfortunately for us, Bernarderschi’s last minute goal to give Juve the win cost us dearly, the game coming in as our biggest loss of the weekend.
“We did claw a bit back though as Ronaldo failed to score,” he added.
BetVictor experienced a quiet weekend in the horseracing, described as the “lull before the storm” with York’s four-day flagship Ebor meeting this week.
For Betdaq, the pick of the weekend’s racing action came at Newbury, where a well-backed Sir Dancealot landed the Hungerford Stakes with a total £2.5m matched on the meeting.
