ANJ moves to block crypto-first operators in France
Cbet and Stake blacklisted in European country after regulator ramps up anti-crypto measures

French gambling regulator ANJ has clamped down on cryptocurrency gambling in the country after banning two operators.
Operators Cbet and Stake were both blacklisted by the regulator and ordered to be blocked by French internet access providers.
The sites earned combined site visits in France of 560,000 in June.
The ANJ referred both Cbet and Stake to the judicial tribunal of Paris as part of the protocol to block the sites.
The Paris Court of Justice ordered French internet access providers to block both Cbet and Stake’s regular and mirror sites, which are used to circumvent the initial blocking measure implemented onto the operator.
Stake was announced as the principal sponsor of Premier League side Watford this month in a club-record deal.
ANJ said: “The use of cryptocurrency is prohibited on the sites of authorised operators who are required to fight against fraud, money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
“The ANJ wishes to draw the public’s attention to the dangerousness of these illegal sites which record particularly high audiences.”
