Angry Birds developer flies into London
Rovio expands in-house studio operations with new London-based team to focus on creating massively multiplayer online games

Angry Birds developer, Rovio Entertainment, has announced it will launch a new in-house studio in London, providing a major boost to the capital’s tech scene.
The London-based team will focus on creating new massively multiplayer online games (MMOs) for the Finnish gaming company.
“We believe that the best game experiences are those that you share with other people,” said Mark Sorrell, head of Studio.
“So we’re starting a studio to do exactly this. We look forward to bringing a diverse team together to deliver unique MMOs that are creative, inclusive and delightful.”
The London studio joins Rovio’s four other in-house studios, with three in Espoo, Finland and one in Stockholm, Sweden, as well as the company’s global network of external partner developers.
Antti Viitanen, senior vice president of its games studios, added London was the “most logical place” for its new studio after seeing its business growing.
“London is also a fantastically diverse talent magnet,” added Viitanen.
