
AGA President and CEO departs
Freeman departs after five years in the role

The American Gaming Association (AGA) has announced the departure of its long-serving president and CEO Geoff Freeman.
Freeman will remain with the AGA until the end of July, before taking up the position of president and CEO of the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA), ending a five-year tenure at the AGA.
His departure comes after what the AGA called the greatest expansion on legalized gambling in American history, with the repeal of PASPA US Supreme Court repeals federal sports betting ban.
As head of the AGA, Freeman was instrumental in the Supreme Court’s decision, providing frequent comments and stats for media outlets, as well as spearheading the American Sports Betting Coalition The American Gaming Association on the future of US sports betting.
Paying tribute to Freeman, AGA Chairman Tim Wilmott said: “It is a testament to our industry, as well as to Geoff himself, that GMA would look to gaming as a model for managing through dynamic change and complexity to achieve success in both policy and perceptions.
“Geoff is leaving us with a strong Board, a talented team and a more inclusive, strategic, financially sound and forward-looking trade association.”
The AGA has confirmed that its executive committee will launch a selection process for its next CEO over the coming weeks, seeking opinions from a number of sources before choosing the new President and CEO.
