AGA predicts NFL bets to rise 21% this year
New Jersey and Massachusetts to have highest percentage of NFL bets placed, new AGA survey predicts

The American Gaming Association has estimated that bets placed via retail sportsbooks on the upcoming NFL season will be up 21% on the previous year to 7 million.
In its latest survey, one in four of the 11,000 sample surveyed said they would place a bet on the NFL if it were legal in their state.
The survey also predicted that 39% of avid NFL fans were planning to bet on the league this season, while 28% were more likely to attend a game they have bet on.
AGA president and CEO Bill Miller said that sports betting was clearly impacting fans’ enthusiasm for engaging with the NFL.
“As the legal market grows, it is imperative for gaming and adjacent industries to focus on implementing and promoting legal sports betting responsibly to protect consumers and ensure the viability of legal markets to the continued detriment of illegal operators,” Miller said.
New Jersey and Massachusetts had the highest number of potential bettors, with 18% of those surveyed planning on placing a bet.
