ACMA urges ISPs to block 12 illegal sites
The Australian media regulator adds 12 offshore sites to list of nearly 400 banned operators

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has instructed the country’s internet service providers (ISPs) to ban 12 illegal offshore gambling websites for regulatory breaches.
The ACMA undertook investigations into the sites after it was found that they were in breach of the Interactive Gambling Act 2001.
Breaches of the act include providing an unlicensed interactive gambling service to customers and publishing advertisements for prohibited or unlicensed services.
Since the ACMA made its first blocking request to Australian ISPs back in November 2019, 399 illegal gambling websites have been blocked.
Additionally, more than 160 illegal gambling providers have pulled out of the Australian market since 2017, when new rules to combat offshore operators were introduced.
The ACMA said: “Even if a service looks legitimate, its unlikely to have important customer protections. This means Australians who use illegal gambling services risk losing their money.”
The 12 sites to be banned by ISPs are Zebet, Zeturf, Slot Vibe, Arlekin Casino, Johnnie Kash Kings, Lucky Star, Horus Casino, Tangiers Casino, 7 Reels, 21 Dukes, Winward Casino and Thebes Casino.
