Abios lands esports expert to spearhead newly formed odds operations arm
The supplier has appointed former Danske Spil esports product specialist Rasmus Schmidt Christensen to the role of head of odds operations

Abios has named Rasmus Schmidt Christensen as the Sweden-based supplier’s new head of odds operations.
The Kambi-owned supplier, which focuses on esports, has added the former Danske Spil head to the newly created role as it looks to take the business to the “next level”.
Under the remit of his role, Christensen will act as a middleman between trading and Abios’ automated odds setting, with the goal of creating an holistic end product for users.
Christensen spent the last seven-and-a-half years with Danish operator Danske Spil. He arrived in May 2016 as an odds compiler, a role he occupied for just shy of five years.
He then made the move to spearhead the company’s esports vertical as a product specialist, a role he took on in February 2021 and called time on in September 2023.
During his time at Danske Spil, Christensen relied on his esports knowledge to help the operator create new products and optimise existing ones in a bid to engage customers.
Christensen was glowing in his assessment of his new employers as he spoke following his appointment.
“Having worked in esports for years, I’m thrilled to join the Abios team,” Christensen declared. “As they’re building new and exciting products on top of best-in-class data and modelling, Abios is at a very exciting growth stage. I’m happy to be part of the next step in that journey.”
Anton Janér, managing director and founder of Abios was equally enthused about the new exec’s hire.
He added: “Esports is a fast-growing segment within online sports betting. For sportsbooks to stay competitive in the area, working with people who truly understand esports is paramount.
“At Abios, we’ve historically been in the fortunate position to attract people with strong esports expertise. Rasmus is no different, having spent significant time at Danske Spil improving their esports vertical.
“We’re thrilled to have him on board and look forward to seeing him taking our offering to the next level.”
Christensen’s arrival is the second notable appointment in as many months at Abios, with Janer stepping up as managing director from CTO in May following CEO Oskar Bonnevier Fröberg’s decision to call time on his 11-year reign.
Fröberg and Janer founded the supplier together in 2013 as CEO and CTO, respectively. The pair helped guide Abios throughout the process of being acquired by Kambi in 2021 for SEK120m.
Under the guidance of Janer, Abios currently boast the likes of Unibet, Tipsport and LeoVegas as clients, while employing around 70 people worldwide.
