888AFRICA adds VP of performance marketing to growing senior team
Ex-GOAT Interactive head Sorin Nichita links up with Christopher Coyne-led venture in latest appointment

888AFRICA has bolstered its growing senior team with the appointment of Sorin Nichita as VP of performance marketing and BI.
Nichita joins the JV from GOAT Interactive – the company behind West Africa-facing online operator PremierBet – where he served as head of insights from May 2021 until May 2022.
He is reunited with 888AFRICA CEO Christopher Coyne in his new role, with Coyne having previously served as GOAT Interactive CEO.
Prior to joining GOAT Interactive, Nichita spent more than two years as head of online marketing for Editec, a gambling consultancy firm specialising in the African market.
The JV has enacted a recruitment drive since its establishment, which saw a host of industry stalwarts join CEO Coyne.
Former William Hill chief product officer Alex Rutherford and ex-Premier Bet CFO Helen Scott-Allen are involved with the venture, as well as Ian Marmion who will head up trading.
Voxbet chair and former MD of The Stars Group’s sportsbook, Andrew Lee, is also part of the JV.
Former Betsson VIP lead Ryan Newton has been named as VP of VIP, while ex-The Stars Group manager Steven McIntosh was onboarded as VP of product.
The JV will pay a brand licence fee to 888 to utilise its product portfolio in “selected” regulated markets in Africa. The plan is to initially launch in four countries before growing its footprint to 10 in the long term.
