888AFRICA adds ex-TSG senior manager as VP of product
Steven McIntosh reunited with Christopher Coyne as JV continues to build out senior team ahead of launch

888AFRICA has added to its growing senior team with the appointment of former The Stars Group (TSG) manager Steven McIntosh as VP of product.
McIntosh joins the new JV involving 888 after a stint as a self-employed consultant and a spell as a product owner at i3 Interactive from July 2020 until January 2022.
McIntosh spent more than nine years with TSG after joining the operator in April 2011 as a content management system developer.
He was promoted to sportsbook content team manager in November 2015, before becoming senior manager in September 2018.
McIntosh said: “I’m extremely proud and incredibly excited to announce I have joined forces with 888AFRICA as the VP of product.
“Having worn many hats across various pillars of the sportsbook and casino space, spanning almost two decades with market leaders and start-ups alike, I’m feeling very fortunate and beautifully positioned to begin my next chapter with 888AFRICA, defining and spearheading much of the product roadmap into Africa and beyond.
“[I’m] incredibly thrilled to be working alongside some of the industry giants, some for the third time, and thank them for their early support,” he added.
McIntosh will join forces with TSG alumnus Christopher Coyne, who is leading the operation as CEO.
Former William Hill chief product officer Alex Rutherford and ex-Premier Bet CFO Helen Scott-Allen are also involved with the venture, as well as Ian Marmion who will head up trading.
Voxbet chair and former MD of TSG’s sportsbook Andrew Lee is also part of the JV. McIntosh provided his consultancy services to Voxbet during his five-month self-employed period.
The 888AFRICA business will pay a brand licence fee to 888 to utilise its product portfolio in “selected” regulated markets in Africa. The plan is to initially launch in four regulated markets before growing its footprint to 10 in the long term.
These brands will operate via an unnamed third-party technology platform, with 888AFRICA operating a localised brand and products tailored for the African market.
Earlier this month, the JV onboarded former Betsson VIP lead Ryan Newton as VP of VIP.
