Sports betting operator becomes main kit and stadium partner to reigning League of Ireland champions

888 has struck a deal to become the kit and stadium sponsor of League of Ireland football club Shamrock Rovers.
Under the terms of the agreement, 888sport branding will feature on player shirt fronts and throughout the club’s 8,000 capacity Tallaght Stadium over the next two seasons.
The activation will go live on 19 March, to coincide with Rovers’ first fixture of the season against St Patrick’s Athletic.
888 has previously sponsored English Football League (EFL) clubs including Birmingham City, Brentford, Nottingham Forest and Preston North End.
The operator currently serves as main kit sponsor of Cardiff City, with that deal due to expire at the end of the season.

“We welcome 888sport on board as our principal partner ahead of this weekend’s President’s Cup match, before commencing our defence of the league title,” said Shamrock Rovers chairman Ciarán Medlar.
“The team at 888sport share our desire for success and we look forward to working with them to build a strong relationship over the next two seasons,” he added.
888’s Dublin office, which employs 140 people, is a little over eight miles from Tallaght Stadium and has served as the main development hub for the operator’s sportsbook platform, which is evolved from the former BetBright business.
Addressing the new partnership, head of 888sport Kieran Spellman said: “The club enjoyed a fantastic season last year and is back fighting for a place in the Champions League for the first time in a decade.
“As a sizable employer in Dublin, committed to Dublin and to the Irish market, we are very much looking forward to playing our part in supporting our local team,” Spellman added.
