888 recruits Sky Betting & Gaming research head in newly created role
Jonathan Watts to link up with London-listed operator in head of consumer insights position

888 has hired Jonathan Watts in the newly created role of global head of consumer insights.
Watts, a former head of research for Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG), spent four years with the Leeds-headquartered bookmaker in a number of research-facing roles.
In his new position at 888, Watts will be responsible for building out the firm’s consumer insights function.
EGR understands this will include developing an understanding of 888’s predominantly recreational player base and using customer insights across 888 products to help inform the operator’s long-term growth strategy.
Watts will be based in the UK and will report into 888 chief strategy officer Vaughan Lewis.
Lewis said of the appointment: “Jonny is one of the leading experts in customer insight in betting and gaming and we are delighted to welcome him to the group.
“888’s strategy to build an online betting and gaming leader is, among other things, built on us having a comprehensive understanding of what our customers want and need, creating fun, fair, safe and compelling offers and products to make 888 the brand of choice for online betting and gaming.
“Jonny’s significant experience enhances our ability to better connect with our players and I look forward to working with him,” he added.
In September, 888 acquired William Hill’s non-US assets from Caesars Entertainment in a deal worth £2.2bn.
