666BET CEO Barry Martin stands down
London-based operator in search for new chief executive as Martin takes up consultancy role

666BET is searching for a new chief executive after Barry Martin (pictured) decided to take up a new consultancy role, eGaming Review has learned.
Martin has relinquished the chief executive position a little more than a year after first taking up the role, having joined in late 2013 to help plot the operator’s high-profile launch, which took place last June.
The former Gutshot Poker CEO also played a major part in the operator’s acquisition of Metro Play in September and prior to today’s news was thought to be closing in on further M&A deals.
666BET declined to comment on Martin’s move but eGR understands the former CEO will continue to advise the firm in his new capacity as senior consultant at KPI Gaming Consultants.
In December, 666BET completed a major platform overhaul as it migrated its sportsbook and gaming from Novigroup to BetConstruct and EveryMatrix, respectively.
The operator had experienced a number of technical issues since launch and faced criticism from customers on social media over slow withdrawal processing times.
Speaking to eGR last month, Martin partly attributed the issues to the Noivigroup platform which he described as being “quite small” and said had “struggled to cope with the number of players that have come in through 666BET”.
As well as searching for a successor to Martin, 666BET is currently preparing to launch an Asia-facing sportsbook after hiring former 188Bet business development director Robert Robinson to head up an office in Taipei City.
