Around 250 tombola jobs at risk as operational review completes
Staff at UK-based bingo giant to be potentially redeployed elsewhere as parent company pledges to continue investment following restructure

Around 250 jobs at tombola are at risk after bingo firm completed an operational review into the business.
Flutter snapped up the Sunderland-based bingo giant in 2021 for £402m as it once again flexed its M&A muscles to expand its UK and recreational player base.
The London-listed firm has ploughed resources into tombola since the acquisition, including a £2m capital injection two weeks ago to bolster tech and product.
However, tombola has decided that following a brand review it will now realign its business structure.
EGR understands that staff from tombola’s customer experience team face the risk of redundancy, including the chat and customer support teams.
However, EGR also understands impacted staff will have the opportunity to be redeployed to newly created roles throughout the North East.
Sunderland will remain as tombola’s UK head office, with Flutter also committed to continuing to funnel investment into the brand and region.
A tombola spokesperson said: “Today we have communicated a number of proposed changes to our customer service teams following an extensive operational review.
“As a result, a number of colleagues will now take part in a formal consultation process that will include significant opportunities for redeployment within the business, but will also unfortunately lead to a number of redundancies.
“The colleagues involved in this process have been informed and our priority is to support them and their teams through this period of change.
“Tombola is a progressive and widely recognised leader in customer protection, which include max stakes of £2 for all our online bingo and arcade games. We are also deeply proud of our role as a key employer in the North East and Sunderland, with plans to continue investing in the region in the future,” the spokesperson added.
