Optimove iGaming Pulse Report August 2024: NFL fuels surge in player reactivation
In this month’s edition, Optimove looks at how the US betting industry has fared as customers geared up for new NFL season

The NFL season kicked off this past week but for US sportsbook operators, the action began in August with a surge in reactivated players re-joining the fold. These are bettors who were inactive in the preceding month coming out of hibernation.
Optimove’s iGaming Pulse reported a 68% increase in US reactivation rates, reaching 5.4%. Similar behaviour was recorded in the UK, where the Premier League’s kick-off led to a 13% rise in reactivation rates to 5.5%. Both markets outperformed the global average of 3.8%.
A proactive reactivation strategy is crucial for sportsbook operators, as it can reignite interest, increase betting activity and capitalise on early season excitement.
This approach not only boosts short-term revenue, but also strengthens player loyalty and lifetime value, offering a significant advantage during peak betting periods.
