Optimove iGaming Pulse Report January 2024: US NFL bettors up 20% YoY
In a monthly column, Optimove looks at how casino and sports KPIs performed in January 2024 as the NFL helps surge engagement

January is traditionally a strong month for sportsbook activity in the US, thanks to the impactful NFL Playoffs. As new or casual players join in on the action, they boost the total number of players while reducing the average single wager amount.
To understand the January effect in terms of sportsbook players, we conducted a month-on-month comparison, using January 2023 as the baseline. Notably, there were declines in every subsequent month, including during March Madness. January 2024, however, showcased a 20% surge in the number of bettors compared to January 2023. Could Taylor Swift be a contributing factor? Let’s not rule that out as a possibility.
