
Optimove iGaming Pulse Report: Average sports deposits up 119% year-on-year in France
In a monthly column, Optimove shares the latest insights from its iGaming Pulse Report looking at how casino and sports KPIs performed in April


In April, a number of huge and exciting sporting events took place, including the UEFA Champions League games and the NCAA Basketball Championships in the US.
In addition, when comparing the data to April 2020 – we see some interesting trends.
Let’s dig deeper into the following sports and casino KPIs to learn more.
Sports KPIs
Monthly deposits
The average number of monthly deposits for sports bettors increased by 2% MoM and decreased by 2% YoY, now standing at 9.9 monthly deposits per player.
Monthly net gaming revenue per player
There has been an increase of 3% MoM in average revenue per active player during April and a decrease of 4% YoY, now standing at €89 per player.
In the US we can see an increase of a massive 20% YoY in the monthly net gaming revenue per player, now standing at €150.
Average deposit amount
The average deposit amount for sports players increased by 6% MoM and by 3% YoY, now standing at €37.
In France, the average deposit amount increased by 48% MoM and by a whopping 119% YoY, now standing at €103. That’s impressive!
Retention rates
Retention rates for sports bettors have remained the same MoM and increased by 41% YoY, now standing at 65%.
New retention rates
New retention rates have decreased by 9% MoM and increased by 18% YoY, now standing at 40%.
Conversion rates
Conversion rates remained the same MoM and increased by 8% YoY, now standing at 40%.
Number of activity days
This month, the number of activity days decreased by 4% MoM and increased by 42% YoY, now standing at 8.1.
Since April 2020, there is a clear upward trend in the number of activity days, which indicates that with the return of sports games and tournaments, the number of activity days per player increased.
In Germany, the number of activity days increased by a huge 85% YoY, now standing at 6.1.
Mobile bet rate
For this report, this KPI is defined as the total mobile bet amount during April, divided by the total bet amount. Looking at the data, the rate remained the same MoM but increased by 15% YoY, now standing at 68%.
Casino KPIs
Average deposit amount
The average deposit amount for casino players decreased by 3% MoM and increased by 16% YoY, now standing at €36.
Monthly deposit per player
The average number of monthly deposits per player in April slightly increased by 4% MoM and by 11% YoY, now standing at 10.3 deposits per player.
Monthly revenue
The average net gaming revenue per active player increased by 3% MoM and by 13% YoY, now standing at €98.
Conversion rates
Conversion rates decreased by 5% both MoM and YoY, now standing at 37%.
Retention rates
Retention rates remained the same MoM but increased by 28% YoY, now standing at 67%.
New retention rates
New retention rates decreased by 8% MoM but increased by 13% YoY, now standing at 36%.
