Oddschecker insights: Sky Bet mops up Ryder Cup clicks in September
Oddschecker puts Premier League pricing under the microscope as Paddy Power is revealed as regularly the worst-priced on favourites

Ryder Cup
This year’s tournament saw the USA run out 19-9 winners, the heaviest victory margin since 1975. In a dominant performance by a star-studded USA team and a chastening experience for Europe, the outcome was broadly in-line with market expectations.
Here are some of the main headlines from this year’s edition from an oddschecker perspective:
Sky Bet managed to achieve the greatest share of betslip clicks over the course of the tournament (21.6%), followed by bet365 (10.4%) and Betfred (9.3%).
Europe actually accumulated 14% more betslip clicks than the USA in this year’s edition – many punters no doubt betting with heart over head.
Justin Thomas was most-backed on oddschecker to finish as the top combined points scorer (13/2), but could only grab a joint-fourth position with Dustin Johnson taking the individual accolade (11/1).
Premier League Favourites
In this newsletter, we’ve taken a closer look at the Premier League 1×2 pricing from the ‘big 5’ and specifically on pre-match favourites. The most fancied teams tend to attract the most attention from punters, so it’s particularly useful to study how generously the operators are pricing the favs, and in doing so attracting the attention of customers.
Of the ‘big 5’ operators on oddschecker, William Hill has offered the best odds on the favourite team 38% of the time this season, more often than any of the others. Conversely, Hills only ranked 5th out of this cohort of bookies for 13% of matches this campaign.
Sky Bet, on the other hand, has been best-priced on the favourites just 6% of the time, and worst-priced on 22% of all fixtures. Paddy Power is most regularly the worst-priced on the favourite; a whopping 36% of matches have seen them offer the shortest odds. Naturally this core price view excludes any boosted value or promos offered by all of the big 5 in various formats.
The graphic below outlines the breakdown of where each operator has ranked (1-5) on EPL favourite pricing from each match so far this season.
