“For the first time, bettors can personalise their wagers on eSimulators just as they do in traditional esports, opening up a completely new avenue for engaging with these titles,” Suchomel adds.

Of course, bet building is not an entirely new concept. Similar functionalities already exist in traditional sports betting, often referred to as ‘parlay bets’ or ‘accumulators’. 

However, in more conventional sports, these bets typically involve multiple games or matches, whereas BetBuilder focuses on the intricacies of a single match, much like the single game parlays that have proliferated across the North American sports betting market in recent years.

Overcoming the challenges of esports

While BetBuilder shares similarities with other sports betting products, it also introduces specific challenges related to the nature of esports. Traditional sports such as football, tennis and basketball have well-established rules and relatively predictable outcomes, making it easier to calculate odds and combine bets. 

However, esports involve thousands of data points in the blink of an eye. The fast-paced action and complex strategies require more sophisticated modelling to generate accurate odds.

For example, more linear games such as Counter-Strike 2, where outcomes are straightforward, are easier to simulate and integrate into BetBuilder. However, more complex games like Dota 2, with their near limitless possibilities, require different approaches.
