Flutter Entertainment tops EGR Power 50 as first new winner crowned in over a decade
Bet365’s 10-year reign comes to an end as Flutter’s acquisition of The Stars Group fires industry giant into number one spot

Flutter Entertainment has topped the 2020 EGR Power 50 rankings after a transformational year of mergers and acquisitions at the FTSE 100 operator.
Flutter’s £10bn tie-up with The Stars Group (TSG) completed in May 2020 and formed a global online heavyweight with a colossal market cap today of £24bn, proving that size does indeed matter.
The addition of TSG’s flagship PokerStars and Sky Betting & Gaming (SBG) brands added hefty gaming revenue to an already impressive portfolio of brands including Paddy Power, Betfair and FanDuel, the latter of which is vying to become market leader in the hotly contested US gambling market.
On the US, the report notes: “Flutter’s enviable stable of diversified brands – FanDuel, Fox Bet, PokerStars, Betfair and TVG – now make it the clear online market frontrunner, if it wasn’t already.”
The fact Flutter has managed to topple bet365 from the summit of the EGR Power 50 rankings is testament to a phenomenal year for Peter Jackson and co, especially under Covid-19 circumstances.
Bet365 topped the rankings every year since 2010 but all good things must come to an end and the Stoke-headquartered online giant must settle for second place this year.
Entain – known as GVC Holdings until this week – finished third after an eventful year including a switch of chief executive and a full-blown rebrand.
Kindred Group finished fourth to secure its highest-ever placing in the Power 50 rankings, while Gamesys Group cemented the top five, having also won the 2020 EGR operator of the year award.
