Svenska Spel reports increased 2024 revenue from “healthy” players
State-owned Swedish operator generated 93.9% of its revenue from low-risk players in Q4, up 1.4 percentage points from Q1

Svenska Spel has recorded an increase in the percentage of its revenue that was generated by “healthy” players across 2024.
The operator reported 93.9% of its revenue was derived from low-risk players in Q4 2024, with the figure remaining flat when compared to the previous quarter (94%).
When compared to Q1’s 92.5% figure, the firm increased its healthy player revenue by 1.4 percentage points across the year.
The state-owned firm’s analysis tool, Playscan, assesses every player’s gambling habits to ascertain the likelihood of a customer developing a gambling problem.
Revenue from customers who have a lower risk of gambling problems is then reported as “healthy”.
Between 1 July and 31 December 2024, 1.7% of Svenska Spel players were contacted by the operator after exhibiting signs of at-risk gambling.
Out of the customers contacted, 77.9% opted to reduce their gambling spend after hearing from Svenska Spel representatives.
On average, the players contacted who chose to cut back reduced their gambling spend by 50.3%.
In addition to those who reduced their spending, 11.7% of players contacted chose to take a break from gambling for less than six months, while 4.4% self-excluded for six months or longer.
Anna Johnson, Svenska Spel president and CEO, said: “The increase in 2024 shows that our responsible gaming measures are having a positive effect.
“In 2025, we will continue our work to increase sustainable gaming and reduce revenue from customers who gamble in a way that can lead to problems.”
Axel Lyckberg, responsible gambling specialist at Svenska Spel, added: “The fact that a customer’s income is categorised as healthy or unhealthy does not mean that the customer is either completely free of risk in their gambling or is experiencing problems.
“It is possible to move across the line between low and high risk.
“We follow the customers’ gambling habits and contact those who have crossed or are at risk of crossing the line into unhealthy gambling. The goal is to help them take control.”
