Superbet announced as Brazil’s first regulated operator after obtaining licence
Operator pays R$30m for licence for its three brands in preparation for Brazil’s new market launch in January 2025

Superbet has become the first operator to gain an official licence for Brazil’s newly regulated gambling market.
The market is set to go live from 1 January 2025, with the country’s Ministry of Finance considering the licence applications of more than 100 operators.
Prospective operators were initially given a deadline of 1 October 2024 to submit their applications before the process began to phase unlicensed firms out of the market.
By the end of that day, the Ministry of Finance had received 184 licence requests.
Superbet’s licence cost R$30m (£4.2m) and it will be valid in the market for a period of five years.
The licence will permit Superbet to enter up to three commercial brands in the Brazilian market.
During the application process, Superbet was seeking to obtain a licence to operate its Superbet, MagicJackpot and LuckyDays brands.
The firm already has an established presence in the Latam region through its sponsorship of top-flight Brazilian football teams São Paulo and Fluminense.
A Superbet statement said: “We are always seeking excellence in our services, and we will continue to do so.
“Superbet has always been concerned with national regulations and only came to operate in the country [Brazil] after being certain that this would be the path to be taken.
“Therefore, as soon as the regularisation process was made available, we immediately proceeded to obtain the licence.”
Other operators awaiting confirmation of their Brazilian licence have been permitted by the Ministry of Finance to continue operating in the country until the end of the year.
The regulator has already initiated the process of removing unlicensed operators from the market, requesting Brazil’s National Telecommunications Agency to block unwanted website domains.
Last week, Brazil’s National Consumer Secretariat introduced a measure to ban bonus advertising in the region when the regulated market launches in the new year.
Operators will be prohibited from “any advertising of reward related to advances, anticipations, bonuses or prior advantages, even if for the mere purpose of promotion, publicity or for placing a bet”.
Companies will also be unable to advertise fixed-odds betting games to minors in the country.
