William Hill has launched a new docuseries that will explore the trials and tribulations of football managers ahead of the new season.
The four-part programme, Gaffer, will go live on Sky Sports, Sky On Demand and the Sky Sports YouTube channel as part of the launch today, 16 August.
The series will also be broken down into social media snippets which will be shared across Sky Sports’s Instagram and Facebook accounts.
A 30-second TV ad will promote Gaffer which will include a QR code to direct viewers to full-length versions of each episode.
Gaffer will explore the different types of management styles from across the globe, featuring interviews with Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers, Luton Town manager Rob Edwards and former Manchester City and Italy head coach Roberto Mancini.
The docuseries will also glean insight from those with close ties to managers, including leading journalist Fabrizio Romano, former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan and ex-player Patrice Evra.
The show has been produced by DEAD Films, a London-based production agency that has previously worked with the Premier League and BT Sport (now TNT Sport).
Hills’ media agency Wavemaker UK and Sky Media both collaborated on the project with the evoke-owned operator.
Michael Sheehan, William Hill director of UK marketing, said: “Football managers operate in an incredibly high-stakes environment. Modern day football managers have, what has got to be, one of the toughest leadership jobs there is.
“Through Gaffer we aim to give viewers a deeper understanding of the complexities and pressures that these leaders face every day.”
Karin Seymour, Sky Media director of client and marketing, added: “We’re thrilled to have collaborated with William Hill and Wavemaker UK to create this unique perspective on football.
“Everyone’s an armchair manager thinking they can do a better job, but this in-house produced series offers an intimate and compelling look at the world of football management.”
