Entain snaps up former William Hill executive as CMO
Charlotte Emery heads to London-listed firm and returns to frontline operations after departing the evoke-owned brand in January last year
Entain has named former William Hill exec Charlotte Emery as the operator’s new chief marketing officer (CMO).
Emery joins the FTSE 100 firm after 18 months away from frontline gambling operations, having spent the last year-and-a-half as an independent consultant and coach.
The new Entain exec previously spent more than four years with Hills, initially joining the firm in November 2018 as a global marketing director.
In September 2020, Emery was promoted to chief brand officer as she joined the group’s executive committee and oversaw multi-million-pound marketing campaigns for Hills.
She eventually departed the business in January 2023.
Emery boasts an extensive marketing CV, having risen to the fore with drinks company Bacardi before joining British American Tobacco where she spent more than six years across a series of roles.
Taking to LinkedIn to confirm her move, Emery wrote: “I’m thrilled to announce my new role as CMO at Entain UK. [I’m] excited to dive into this opportunity, meet the team and reconnect with a few familiar faces. Entain UK boasts a fantastic portfolio of brands in an industry I’m passionate about.
“A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported me over the last year. My friends and family have been brilliantly positive and helpful in guiding me through this journey of deciding ‘what now?’.
“I’ve also worked on some really interesting consultancy projects with amazing people and I wish them every success moving forward.
“It’s been an enjoyable ride but now it’s time to go back to what I love. Can’t wait for the adventure ahead,” she added.
Emery’s addition to the Entain C-suite comes after chief commercial officer Dominic Grounsell departed the business in March while the hunt for a permanent CEO continues to rumble on.
Grounsell called time on his five-year stint with the Ladbrokes and Coral parent company having stepped up to the commercial brief in July 2022 after a series of MD roles within the business.
Entain is still being led in the interim by Stella David while the search for Jette Nygaard-Andersen’s successor remains ongoing following her exit in December.
David will step up to become chair of the operator later this year to replace Barry Gibson.
