Björn Sjöberg to step down as CCO of Evolution Europe
Swedish exec calls time on an eight-year stint with live casino solutions provider

Evolution Europe chief commercial officer, Björn Sjöberg, has announced that he will be stepping down from his current role in two weeks, following the conclusion of a six-month gardening leave period.
Having joined the Malta-based company in February 2016 as a key account manager, Sjöberg quickly moved up the ranks in the business, taking over as head of SME in October 2017.
After just 10 months in the SME role, he went on to become head of key account management in July 2018 – a position that he held for almost four-and-a-half years before occupying the role of CCO Europe in October 2022.
Prior to his career in igaming, Sjöberg also held a number of account management roles in other entertainment industries, starting at Helsingborg’s free-to-read Galore Magazine and moving on to broadcasters Kanal 5 and TV4-Gruppen before finally landing at Evolution Europe.
Writing on his LinkedIn profile, Sjöberg said: “I still remember the first time I stepped into the [Evolution] office, clueless about gaming and trying to understand a new industry with broken English. Since then, I have worked harder than most people claim they do and I am extremely proud of my achievements over the years.
“I’ve constantly pushed myself to deliver more, failed many times, but got back up again to continue pushing myself forward. Constantly focusing on delivering more revenues and achieving the next target [while] rapidly progressing through the ranks [I] ended on top of the mountain with my dream role as CCO of the most successful company in the igaming industry.”
In terms of the legacy that he’ll leave behind, Sjöberg’s time at Evolution Europe will be particularly remembered for the role he played in launching Top Card – the company’s flagship live football studio game – which is still ranked as one of its top performing titles, with over 10 versions and languages operating across multiple studios and continents.
Sjöberg added that since beginning gardening leave in September 2023, he’d been enjoying a well-needed break with his family and that he was in no rush to decide on the next step of his career.
