Trustly announces double C-level appointment
Payment provider adds risk and finance experts to its top team as firm plots further European expansion

Trustly has appointed Annika Poutiainen and Georg Kaltenbrunner as the group’s new chief legal officer and group chief risk and compliance officer, respectively.
The Stockholm-headquartered payments firm said the appointments were sanctioned as the business prepares for further expansion into Europe in 2024.
Poutiainen has immediately linked up with the supplier, with Kaltenbrunner set to take up his new role in March.
Poutiainen has held several roles across the financial sector and has also spent time in the regulatory field.
She previously held the roles of executive chair of the Council for Swedish Financial Reporting Supervision, head of market surveillance Nordics at Nasdaq and head of unit and market surveillance at the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority.
She also served on the boards of several financial services and payment organisations, and is currently a board member of Airtel Africa, which provides telecommunications and mobile money services.
Speaking about her new role, Poutiainen said: “I am excited to join Trustly. I am proud to be part of this journey and look forward to working for the continued success of the company.”
Kaltenbrunner joins Trustly after a brief sabbatical following his departure from Estonia-based financial services provider Luminor Group as the firm’s chief risk officer.
Before his time with Luminor, Kaltenbrunner held several roles with Nordea from November 2015 to October 2019.
A series of positions across the operational risks divisions culminated in his role as chief operating officer for group finance and treasure in June 2019.
On his new leadership position at Trustly, Kaltenbrunner said: “I am thrilled to be joining the success story that is Trustly, where I will be working with the team to build a strong and scalable risk management and compliance platform.
“This is a crucial step in ensuring Trustly’s business resilience and supporting our long-term ambitions.”
On the double appointment, Trustly CEO Johan Tjärnberg, added: “We would like to extend a warm welcome to Annika and Georg, who are a really strong addition to the Trustly leadership team.
“They join the company at a dynamic and exciting time, and I am confident their respective teams will flourish under their guidance.”
