Rivalry scores industry newcomer as VP of engineering
Willian Correa links up with esports betting-focused operator to further the firm’s vision in first igaming stint

Rivalry has appointed tech expert Willian Correa as its new VP of engineering.
Correa joins the esports betting-focused operator after just under five years at Toronto-headquartered software development company Rangle.io.
He joined the business in October 2018 as the firm’s VP of engineering and was then made SVP of technology in November 2022.
During his time at Rangle.io, Correa helped devise and implement best practices, standards and processes for software development in regulated markets.
He also contributed to the launch of more than 15 different digital products and established a ‘compliance by design’ playbook to achieve a faster time to market for regulated products.
Prior to that, he spent three-and-a-half years as a technical director at The Pixel Shop.
Correa also co-founded the development firm Xpirit in São Paulo, Brazil, where he served as technical director and co-CEO between 2011 and 2015.
He also counts positions at Omnion Consultoria, Ingris and UOL in his native Brazil on his CV.
In a post on LinkedIn, Correa spoke of his delight about joining Rivalry and the igaming sector.
He said: “I am thrilled to share that I have embarked on a new journey, joining the team at Rivalry.com as the VP of engineering. In an era where the perception of gambling ranges from scepticism to concern, I am keen to contribute to a company that upholds the industry’s highest standards of responsibility and integrity.
“Rivalry is defining the future of online betting for a generation born on the internet. We go well beyond the transactional experience of placing a bet; we’re about revolutionising the gambling landscape with a focus on innovation and entertainment.
“Our commitment to responsible, ethical and enjoyable gaming experiences stands at the forefront of everything we do. As a publicly traded, fully regulated sports betting and media company, Rivalry is leading the way in marrying entertainment with conscientious gambling practices, especially for Millennials and Gen Z consumers.
“I am excited to contribute my expertise in regulated markets to further Rivalry’s vision,” Correa concluded.
