GAN and FSB Technology co-founder establishes consultancy business
David McDowell reveals Pluim McDowell Limited as he looks to support companies of all sizes after leaving FSB last year
GAN and FSB Technology co-founder David McDowell has launched a new consultancy business after stepping down as a non-executive director at FSB last year.
The executive has launched Pluim McDowell Limited, based out of London, to support “startups, scaleups and mature businesses to create value”.
McDowell, an industry veteran, founded GAN at the turn of the millennium and proceeded to serve on the C-suite at the business until 2006 when he became a non-executive director.
He eventually departed the GAN board in October 2012 before its IPO in 2013.
In 2007, McDowell founded FSB Technology and served as CEO until December 2022 when he stepped up to become a non-executive director and was replaced by Ian Gray in the interim.
Gray was replaced permanently by Adam Smith in March 2023, with McDowell leaving the board in November.
Taking to LinkedIn, McDowell said: “After 24 years of co-founding and building both FSB Technology and GAN, both billion turnover gaming industry B2B suppliers, I’ve set up a small consulting practice to help share the learnings.
“We are focused on strategic advisory, product innovation and new venture development,” he added.
Elsewhere, GAN hit the headlines last year after CEO Dermot Smurfit stepped down after 13 years in the top job in September.
Then, in November, the Nasdaq-listed firm confirmed it was to be acquired by Sega Sammy in a $107.6m deal.
The company had initiated a strategic review in the April to assess better ways to deliver shareholder value.
