Optimove iGaming Pulse Oct 2023: Portugal surpasses US as 30% of sports bettors bet $375+ monthly
In a monthly column, Optimove looks at how casino and sports KPIs performed in October 2023

In October, the betting landscape in the US took an interesting turn – zero players placed bets ranging from $0 to $5 on an average single bet, a stark contrast to the global average of 33%. The situation becomes even more intriguing when we analyse the geographical data from Pulse. Canada’s figure stands at 24%, Turkey at 11% and Germany at 3%, highlighting the unique American anomaly. Strikingly, only Portugal mirrors this behaviour with a 0% average in this range.
When we shift our focus to the average monthly total amount deposited per player, rather than just single bets another interesting angle is revealed. Portugal surpasses the US in this regard, with 30% of its players betting over $375 on average, while the US has just 16%. Turkey stands out with this metric and a diverse betting landscape, with 68% of its players divided into two distinct groups – 38% betting up to $53 monthly and 30% placing bets exceeding $375. It’s truly a game of two ends to paraphrase the old sport cliché. For more insights visit the Pulse.
