Guy Cohen announces his departure after a year as COO

888 has announced that COO Guy Cohen has left the firm after a decade-and-a-half with the operator.
Cohen’s last day with the firm was 28 February 2023, but he did not announce his next move after leaving 888.
Elena Chambers will be taking on the role as COO.
Cohen joined the FTSE 250 company in September 2007 as a business analyst. He was later appointed director of casino marketing in January 2011.
His next promotion was to director of B2C casino in October 2014, before being made VP of B2C casino, social games and bingo in October 2016.
Following that, Cohen became head of B2C in November 2017 and then SVP head of integration in November 2021.
He took up the role of COO on an interim basis in March 2022, before taking the role permanently in August 2022.
Cohen took to LinkedIn to express his feelings about leaving 888 after 15 years.
He wrote: “Today marks my last day at 888. I joined the company in September 2007 as a business analyst and depart today as the COO of the combined group.
“I couldn’t have imagined such a long and fulfilling journey even in my wildest dreams. Personally, I feel very proud of this journey. I have always worked with great passion and dedication, and had a clear ambition to contribute to the success of 888, to see the company improve, grow, prosper and achieve its goals.”
Cohen continued: “While I will probably stay an ‘8ster’ forever, now is the right time for me to move on to a new chapter in my career. I am truly excited for the opportunities and challenges ahead, so cheers to new beginnings.”
A 888 spokesperson said: “Guy’s contribution to 888, over 15 years of service, and more recently as COO of our combined 888 William Hill business, has been hugely significant. He has decided to pursue new challenges outside of 888 William Hill and we wish him every success for the road ahead. We’re delighted that Elena Chambers will be taking on the COO responsibility as part of the Executive Team.”
This departure follows on from a rocky start to 2023 for 888 with the shock exit of CEO Itai Pazner and Middle Eastern VIP activities axed. EGR Intel explores whether or not it sounds the death knell for dotcom markets and how 888 can bounce back.
