
Bet365 to boost technology division with 200 hires
Online giant bucks tech sector trend as it looks to bolster multiple teams while Meta cuts 11,000 jobs


Bet365 has offered an olive branch to technology experts who have been impacted by the swathe of lay-offs in the tech industry in recent weeks.
The online operator is actively recruiting for more than 200 roles across its technology teams and has encouraged those effected to explore the opportunities.
The positions are split across bet365’s Stoke-on-Trent headquarters, its central Manchester hub and remote working.
The family-owned firm is hiring across its software development, software testing, IT services, infrastructure and cloud divisions.
As the macroeconomic environment continues to darken, several major tech companies have implemented cost-cutting measures which has seen thousands of people made redundant.
Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta cut around 11,000 jobs – or 13% of the company’s workforce – as the company’s stock fell to its lowest level since 2016.
The firm’s Reality Labs division has lost $9.4bn so far this year alone as Zuckerberg’s commitment to developing the metaverse remains unmoved.
Following Elon Musk’s $44bn purchase of Twitter, the South African-born billionaire culled around half of the social media platform’s staff.
Earlier this year, Musk also cut 10% of salaried staff at Tesla.
Uber rival Lyft axed 13% of its staff recently, amounting to 700 people, while online payments fine Stripe has laid off around 1,100 employees.
Cryptocurrency exchange platform Coinbase reduced its employee headcount by 18%, translating to approximately 1,100 people.
Speaking to EGR, a bet365 spokesperson said: “Our technology teams are the best in the industry, driven by our vision to offer the highest standards.
“Innovation has been in our blood since we invested in the potential of in-play betting in the early 2000s.
“This constant passion for innovation means we’re always looking stand out candidates to join our best-in-class technology team,” the spokesperson added.
