Supplier moves to secure services of tech veteran Julian Wheeler to beef up executive team

Sports Information Services (SIS) has hired former BT and Sky executive Julian Wheeler as the supplier’s new chief technology officer (CTO).
Wheeler joins SIS from revenue management solutions company Xplor where he served as chief product and technology officer since May 2020.
He has previously spent more than five years with Sky TV New Zealand in a series of senior tech roles and was BT director of digital media from April 2008 until January 2010.
In his role as CTO, Wheeler will be responsible for developing a holistic tech strategy for the group moving forwards.
He will oversee teams across architecture, broadcast engineering, IT infrastructure, programme management, service delivery and software engineering.
Speaking on his arrival, Wheeler said: “The growth journey of SIS has been fascinating to see from the outside and I look forward to working alongside a talented team that has made rapid progress in extending its offering in recent times.”
Richard Ames, SIS CEO, added: “Julian’s vast experience in broadcasting and within large-scale organisations makes him an invaluable addition to the business and our leadership team.
“His knowledge and expertise will have significant benefits for our business and will sharpen our technological capabilities,” he added.
